おもちゃタイムだよ！
今回は無敵なヤツ、ＹＯＤ（ヨッド）を紹介したい。
ヨッドは僕の一番好きな英国人アーティスト、ジェームス・ジャーヴィスによるニューキャラクター。
しかし、こいつのシンプルな見た目に騙されるな！ヨッドは以外と深い歴史があるらしい。
その体の形は複雑で、神秘的な数式によってデザインされたもの．．．
どっちみち、そのシンプルなデザインは昔の子供テレビキャラクターを思い出させる。
ジャービスはシンプルなラインで、味わい深く、可愛いキャラクターを作る天才だという証拠になると思う。
イギリスではもう既に売り切れになったが、Amos Toysの新しい日本のネットショップではまだ購入可能。
色違いで6つの美味しそうなフレーバーがあるよ！

It’s toy time again.
This time I present to you the mighty Yod!
Yod is the latest creation from my favourite British artist James Jarvis and was produced by Amos Toys.
Despite his simple appearance Yod has a wealth of back story. Yod’s shape was apparently produced using a complex and mystical mathematical formula…
Either way, Yod’s simple design brings back memories of childhood TV characters and showcases Jarvis’ ability to create lovable characters with the simplest of strokes.
Though sold out in the UK, Yod can still be purchased from Amos Japan and is available in 6 tasty flavours.

The Art of Gravity Part IIは日曜日の夜に無事に終了しました。
おかげさまでかなりの来場数になり大成功でした。
メンバーの皆にとっても最高に楽しい一週間になりました。
地元のテレビにも紹介され、ラジオの生ライブもありました！緊張しました･･･（笑）
そのため、これからもGravityプロジェクトが拡大して、どんどんと進化すると思います。
来てくださった皆様、本当にありがとうございました。
そして、メンバーの皆さん、頑張ってくれてありがとうございます。おつかれさまでした。

The Art of Gravity Part II came to a close on Sunday.
All in all it proved to be a very successful week, both in terms of visitor numbers and sales.
We were also featured on local TV and interviewed live on the radio!
A great time was had by all, thus securing the continuation and expansion of the Gravity project.
Many thanks to everyone who took the time to come down and see the show, and of course to all the members for their hard work.

Watch this space for more action in the near future.

ホラーウッドのモンスタートラックだ～！
Introducing the official Horrorwood monster truck!

数週間前にGravity展のメンバーで友人の嶋谷くんから、彼の作品を入れるパッケージのデザインを依頼された。
嶋谷くんは『Snug Stain』というブランド名で、ハンドメイドで精巧なシルバーアクセサリーを制作している。
今回僕がパッケージデザインをした作品はバイクのパーツ（ピストン、スパークプラグなど）のミニチュアをモチーフとしたもの。

そこで、既存のパッケージのパロディー（？）でデザインしてみた。
一番大変だったのは、箱を「より汚く見せる」こと･･･！これが唯一の要望だった！
イラストレーターで色々なファンクションを試した末にリアルな「オイル汚れ」を作るのに成功した。

※全ての箱の「オイル汚れ」は微妙に違います！良く見てみて下さい。
完璧主義は嶋谷くんだけじゃないみたい････笑

Gravity展第二弾が月曜日（10/8）から始まります。
Be there or be square（直訳：つまらない人間になりたくなかったら、必ず来ること）

A few weeks ago friend and fellow Gravity member Takeshi Shimatani recruited me to design some packaging for his jewellery. Takeshi hand makes highly detailed silver accessories under his Snug Stain label. The pieces I helped design packaging for are all highly detailed miniature replicas of motorbike parts, such as pistons and sparkplugs.

I went with the idea of creating parodies of existing product packaging. The real challenge was making the packaging look as dirty as possible, which was Takeshi’s one stipulation.
After playing around with some new functions on Illustrator, I finally managed to come up with some pretty convincing oil and dirt effects.

Please note that each box has different dirt!
Takeshi is not the only one who is a stickler for detail…
