Yoroi

今回のイラストでまたブラッシュツールを使いこなそうとした。
結果には結構満足していて、ちょっとずつもっと自然で手描きっぽいスタイルに近づいていると思う。
テーマは「鎧」。もとになった画像は下(武田信玄の鎧)。

久しぶりに日本風のイラストを描きたくて、鎧はモンスターのいいベースになると思った。
色はできるだけシンプルにして、線はわざと真っ黒ではない。なぜかというと、それでさらに手描きっぽくなると思ったから。

This illustration was another attempt to make good use of the brush tool.
I am pretty pleased with the result and feel I am getting closer to a more natural, hand-drawn style.
The theme for this piece was a Japanese suit of armour, or “yoroi” (source pictured below: armour which belonged to the famous Takeda Shingen).

I haven’t done anything Japanese themed for a while and thought the armour would be a good base for a monster.
I tried to keep the colour scheme simple and also avoided using pure black for the outlines; again to give the piece a more hand-done feel.

    Thanks for the kind words once again. I’m constantly thinking about the next step, whatever that may be. In the meantime another exhibition is definitley on the cards.
