• The Girls Productions

  � Michelle ValiguraとAmanda VisellはThe Girls Productionsと言うアートユニットを組ん� 。 彼女達のアートは全てレトロな50年代の雰囲気で、イラストレーターが紙とペンキ（現在のようにパソコンではなくて）で作品を作る時代を思い出させる。モチーフとして怪物と巨大動物がよく出て来るから、かなり僕の好み。プロフィールによると、二人ともアートスクールには行ってない。この6年間、こま撮りアニメーションプロジェクトで、スカルプター等として働いてた。色んな雑誌にイラストを投稿したり、シンプソンズなどの大手テレビアニメのためにアニメーションを作ったりした。しかし、現在、彼女達のオリジナルプロジェクト（アートとアニメーション）に集中している。 The Girls Productionsのホー� ページには様々な作品が紹介されてるので、是非見てみてく� さい。サイトを通して作品を購入する事も可能。 Michelle Valigura and Amanda Visell are The Girls Productions. • Freddy vs Jason

  普段は既存のキャラクターを使わないけれど、なぜか「フレディvsジェイソン」をテーマにイラストを描きたくなった。 同タイトルの映画は大失敗だったが、このイラストはその映画へというよりも、２人のキャラクター自身への敬意を示したもの。 とは言っても、最初の「エルム街の悪夢」は素晴らしかったし、「１３日の金曜日」の１と２は結構面白かった（豆知識：ジェイソンのトレードマークのアイスホッケーマスクは第三弾で初登場した！）。 フレディの長～い腕が登場する場面を忘れてしまった方用に、以下のクリップも付けておきました。 I rarely use other people’s creations in my work, but the other week I was consumed by the urge to come up with a piece based on Freddy vs Jason. • Lucky McKee

  � 最近のお気に入りの監督の一人は米ホラー監督はEdward “Lucky” McKee。 彼が監督した� 画を3作しか見てないけど･･･と言っても実は全部で5作位しかない。 Lucky氏は一番有名な作品「May」（2000年・米）でカルト的な人気を得た。 彼の作品はホラーというジャンルに分けられているが、僕にとっては、ファンタジーやホラーのテーマのある青春ドラマに近い。 なぜかと言うと、普通のホラー� 画と比べると、キャラクター間の人間関係がよく描けていて、本当のロマンスとユーモアも入ってる。 Lucky氏の� 画の� 像はいつも凄く魅力的で、カラフル。 お洒落なん� けど、MTVのミュージックビデオほどやりすぎてない。 とにかく、えぐい部分はともかく、普通のホラー� 画と比べたら、楽しく見れるもの� と思う。 Lucky氏の名作「May」は人付き合いが苦手な寂しい女の話。 彼女は� �張って、周りの「普通」の人と付き合おうとする。 テーマは1976年の伝説のホラー「キャリー」の現代版に似ているが、やっぱり雰囲気的に青春ドラマに近い。 � 画の後半に入った� �にやっとホラーぽくなってくる。 主人公のMayは、Lucky氏の全� 画に出演してる演技派女優Angela Bettisが演じてる。 Lucky氏の他の作品についてはまた後日。 � One of my new favourite directors of late is the American horror director Edward “Lucky” McKee. • Super Furry Animation

  ウェールズの伝説のバンド、スーパー・ファーリー・アニマルズ（ＳＦＡ）のミュージックビデオを２つ紹介したい。 ＳＦＡは昔から僕の好きなアーティスト、ピート・ファウラー（同ウェールズ出身）と仲がよく、ピートは「モンスターリズム」というシリーズのデザインで有名。 ピートはＳＦＡのジャケットのイラストも描いていて、最初のビデオは彼のアニメーション。曲は「Hello Sunshine」。 ２番目のビデオ「Lazer Beam」は、子供の頃にやってたゲームを思い出すから単純に好きだ。もちろん曲も好き。 Below are 2 videos from the legendary Welsh band The Super Furry Animals.
