Several months ago Ryan August invited me again to contribute an illustration to his I Want Your Skull magazine. Of course I leapt on the opportunity and produced the illustration that you see here. This is probably the only non-papercraft thing I have done this year, so it is great to see it in print at last.

Putting this issue together was another labour of love and it looks like Ryan has once again produced a top class magazine. This issue comes in a custom envelope and includes a lovely serigraph art print by one of my favourite artists Drew Millward. The wrap-around cover is by killer skull artist Brian Morris.

もちろんこの機会を見逃さなかった。結果は上のイラスト。
今年に入ってペーパークラフト意外僕の唯一のイラストなので、雑誌のリリースを凄く楽しみにした。
今回の雑誌を作るのは大変だったらしいけど、相変わらず凄く豪華な一冊になっている。
格好いいロゴの封筒入って、僕の一番好きなアーティストの一人Drew Millwardが描いたシルク版画も付いている。
裏表のカバーイラストはスカルイラスト達人Brian Morrisの作品。

Here are the next 3 designs that complete the third wave of Calling All Cars customs.

First up is a pretty laid back number from my youngest contributor so far, 15 year old DMC from Australia.
DMC already has a number of original papercrafts under his belt all with a distinctly urban/street vibe.
His latest release is a custom series called Hoody and 5 great designs can be downloaded here. DMC’s MySpace page is here.

Next up is a flaming hot car from Methuup da Funky One from the Netherlands.
This is the first car to make use of photographic images.
Methuup is probably the most avid maker/collector of papertoys around and is a very active member of Nice Paper Toys. He often tries his hands at customs too.
I helped him to turn his idea into a finished PDF with this one to make it available to all for download.

To complete the set we have an eye-popping design from Billy Toledo from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
With this car Billy literally flipped my original design on it’s head, to create the well dressed but wild frog.
The character reminds me of Toad from Wind in the Willows, albeit on a very bad day.

Wave 3 is now ready to roll and will be released very soon.

「Calling All Cars」の第３弾を完成させる３つのデザインを紹介します。

まず最初は、今までで一番若い参加者から頂いた車。オーストラリア出身、１５歳（！）のDMCのとてものんびりとしたデザイン。
DMCはすでに色んなペーパークラフトを作り出して来た。全て明らかにストリートな雰囲気がある。
彼の最新の作品はカスタムシリーズ「Hoody」。こちらから５つの素敵なデザインをダウンロードできる。

次はオランダ出身Methuup da Funky Oneの火炎車。
初めて写真を利用したデザイン。
Methuupは僕が知っている中の一番熱心なペーパークラフト・コレクター。
コミュニティサイトNice Paper Toysで大活躍中。
クラフト集めるのが趣味で、カスタムクラフトもよくチャレンジしているらしい。
僕は皆にこの車を提供したかったので、彼の元のアイディアをPDF化してあげた。

シリーズの最後の車はブラジル、サンパウロ出身Billy Toledoによる、目玉を飛び出させるカエルさん。
このデザインでBillyは元の形を文字通りひっくり返した。
スーツを着ているカエルが「たのしい川べ」の主人公「ヒキガエル」を思い出させるけど、Billyのカエルは多分子供の絵本には出れないと思う…

A few months ago Dolly Oblong (who contributed a wonderful design to the first wave of Calling All Cars) started her own papercraft custom project, called “Paper Totem!”

The idea behind the craft is very simple but works incredibly well. There is one basic template that can be adapted in many ways, and each toy can be stacked one on top of another to make a totem pole. There have already been many amazing contributions to the series from a wide variety of artists, which shows the flexibility and vast potential of this craft.

I decided to try my hand at a Totem and spent rather a long time coming up with the design you see here.
The title for my piece is “Lord of Thunder”. I wanted to make this a really detailed piece and also allow for various different permutations with the multiple faces.

数ヶ月前に、「Calling All Cars」の参加者Dolly Oblong（第１弾でとても可愛いデザインを頂いた）が新しいカスタム・ペーパークラフト・プロジェクトを始めた。そのクラフトの名前は「Paper Totem!」。ベースは凄くシンプルだけど、工夫したら組み合わせは無限になる、素晴らしいクラフトです。

名前通りに２枚以上作ったら、積み重ねることが出来て、素敵なトーテンポールになる。
すでに多数のハイレベルなアーティストが幅広いデザインを提供してくれている。このプロジェクトの柔軟性と可能性は無限大だと思う。

僕もトーテンポールに挑戦してみた。結果は上の写真。題名は「Lord of Thunder」。
今回かなり時間をかけて、細かいイラストに集中した。また、色々な組み合わせを可能にするために、各面に顔の様なものを入れて見た。

Horrorwood has teamed up again to bring you another great collaboration project.
This time I joined forces with Ben the Illustrator (of Speakerdog fame) to produce two great toys.
As with my previous Nanibird tie-up, the idea came to me of rescaling my “Paper Demon” toy so that he could ride on a Speakerdog.
The result is the 2 toys you see here:
my “Dog Rider” representing the dark side, and Ben’s “Uke Troupe” representing the light.
The craft are available for free download from our respective sites.
Once again I have also created some free wallpaper to celebrate the completion of the project.

Horrorwoodは又素敵なコラボプロジェクトを完成した。
今回は「Speakerdog」ペーパークラフトシリーズで人気の大物アーティストBen the Illustratorと組んで、２つの素晴らしいセットを作った。
この間紹介したNanibirdのコラボと同じ感じで、僕のクラフト「Paper Demon」を拡大して、Speakerdogに乗れる要にした。
