Get Ready for the Fifth Wave
Wave 5 of Calling All Cars is finally ready to launch. Apologies for the delay.
Here is a brief introduction to the artist and their designs that will appear in this wave:
First up we have our first parody/tribute car in the form of this iconic Back to the Future car from Filippo Perin aka PHIL. Phil is a well known paper artist and has produced an abundance of craft usually with a distinctly “urban” feel.
Next up is this fantastic little bat character from Trisha Bales, which brings back memories of Hanna Barbera cartoons. Trisha is actually a student of previous contributer Scott Schaller who put me in touch to get hold of this great design.
Thirdly we have a funky number from youngster Greg Madden.
Greg is an 18 year old American who is an active member of Nice Paper Toys.
Number 4 is this wonderfully twisted design from French artist Guillain le Vilain.
Guillain is an amazing illustrator and proves once again that there is a lot of hot work coming out of France these days.
Last but not least we have British illustrator Morgan Gleave, who provides the series’ first 3 wheeler.
In fact Morgan tells me that his name came from a 1939 Morgan three-wheeler sports car that his father used to own!
All of these designs will be released very soon, so as always keep ‘em peeled!
お待たせしました！「Calling All Cars」の第5弾をそろそろリリースします。
その前に、各デザインとアーティストを軽く紹介します。
最初はFilippo Perin（別名「PHIL」）による初パロディーデザイン。
誰でも分かるバック・トゥ・ザ・フューチャーの象徴的な車。
「PHIL」は有名なペーパークラフトのデザイナーで、沢山のストリート系の作品を作り出して来た。
次は、昔の洋アニメ（ハンナ・バーベラ社の作品など）を思い出させるTrisha Balesの可愛いコウモリ。
実はTrishaは以前にも2つ程デザインを提供してくれたScott Schallerの教え子で、彼が紹介してくれた若者アーティスト。
三番目のデザインはGreg Maddenによるファンキーな車。
Gregは18歳のアメリカ人アーティストで、Nice Paper Toysのペーパークラフトサイトで大活躍中。
四番目のデザインはフランス人Guillain le Vilainによるこの素晴らしいコワ可愛い車。
この頃フランスから色んな面白いアーティストが出て来ているということを最近気付いた。
最後はイギリスのイラストレーターMorgan Gleaveによる初三輪の車。
Morganによると彼の名前の由来は昔お父さんが持っていた実際の三輪の車「Morgan」から来たらしい。
近々全デザインをリリースする予定なのでブログを要チェック！
ToysREvil x Horrorwood
As most of you probably know I am a big toy and film fan. One of the best blogs out there for covering news on both of these topics is ToysREvil (TRE), which I check without fail every morning.
Andy from ToysREvil has been kind enough to blog about my paper toys since I started out, and a while back I propositioned him about the possibility of a tie-up piece between TRE and Horrorwood.
Well, it finally came to fruition in the form of an exclusive TRE Calling All Cars paper toy.
This week sees TRE’s first appearance at the Singapore Toy Games and Comic Convention (STGCC).
Andy and I saw this as a timely opportunity to work together and my car is available in very limited numbers exclusively at STGCC. It is signed by Andy and myself and available in both the regular 100% size and very special 140% size.
The cube character was originally designed by Andy a long time ago, and his sketches that I used for reference can be seen here.
In the cube’s hand you can also see a very special toy. This is the TRE Yoka, and is Andy’s first ever real world product which he is launching at STGCC.
This year’s STGCC marks a very important point in the development of TRE and will also hopefully be the start of an exciting relationship with Horrorwood.
Along with running his own booth at the convention, Andy is also an official blogger for the show.
Needless to say Andy is very busy right now.

お気づきだと思いますが、僕はおもちゃと映画が大好き。
数年前にこの両方のトピックを万遍なくカバーしているブログを発見した。
そのブログは「ToysREvil」(TRE)で、毎朝必ず読んでいる。
前からTREのAndyさんは僕のペーパークラフトをいつもアップしてくれて、Horrorwoodの凄く心強いサポーターです。
なので、ちょっと前にAndyにHorrorwoodとTREとで何かのコラボプロジェクトが出来たら･･･と提案してみた。
嬉しいことにAndyはその話にのってくれて、TRE 「Calling All Cars」の特別なペーパークラフトを作った。
今週Andyの母国シンガポールで「Singapore Toy Games and Comic Convention」(略STGCC、おもちゃなどの展覧会)が開催れた。
TREは今回初めて出展者としてSTGCCに参加する。
このがきっかけで僕たちはコラボクラフトを作ることにし、STGCCで限定品として販売されている。
2人のサイン入りで、普通サイズと巨大バージョンがある。
実は車に乗っているブルーのキャラクターは昔Andyがデザインしたもので、今回僕がクラフト用に手を加えたもの。

そしてモンスターが手にもっているおもちゃもAndyによるデザイン。
しかもこの黒のベアは彼にとって初めてデザインが立体化（フィギュア化）されることになった記念すべき作品。
上記の展覧会「STGCC」で初リリースされます！
今年の「STGCC」は色んな意味でTREにとって大事なイベントとなり、HorrorwoodとTREのとの面白い関係も始まった。、
Andyは今回出展するだけではなく、同時にSTGCCのオフィシャルブロガーの1人でもあるので今もの凄く忙しいのは言うまでもない。

Speakerdog Customs
Earlier this year I created a couple of customs for Ben the Illustrator‘s prolific Speakerdog series.
Like the Nanibird, Speakerdog is a simple but versatile platform to work with.
I really enjoyed doing these and tried to come up with 2 very different designs.
Both of my toys are included in Speakerdog Series 6, which was released a few weeks back and features the work of a whopping 64 different artists.

数ヶ月前に「Ben the Illustrator」の人気ペーパークラフトシリーズ「Speakerdog」のために２つのデザインを作った。
アーティストとして、「Speakerdog」は「Nanibird」と同じく、シンプルで多目的なクラフトだと思う。
このデザインを作るのはとても楽しくて、目的の１つは２つのまったく違うパターンを考えることだった。
僕のデザインは先日リリースされたシリーズ６にフィーチャーされている。
今回のシリーズにはなんと６４人のアーティストが参加！

The Art of Gravity Part 4
From September 19th-27th we will be holding the 4th instalment of the Art of Gravity group art show.
This time we are back up to 8 members and as always span a wide range of genres.
There will be papercraft, illustration, t-shirts, photography, jewellery, accessories, bags, sculpture and more.
I will be mainly exhibiting my papercraft this time, as I have so many models now and hope that it will make for an interesting display.
If anyone happens to be in Takamatsu, Japan at this time please come along.

9月の連休を含む9月18日～27日に「The Art of Gravity展」の第4弾を開催します。
今回は第2弾と同じ8人のメンバーが参加します。

僕は今回ペーパークラフトばかり展示しようと思っている。
