Here is my latest original papercraft creation entitled “Ghosts in the Machine” - a happy man and his haunted computer.

This time I wanted to create something a little more detailed and complex. I also wanted to eliminate blank spaces, which I think is a problem that plagues all paper model creators.

This fellow takes a little time to put together and the cutting in particular is a bit fiddly. However (though I say so myself) I found it very satisfying to complete.

テーマは機嫌のいいヤツとおばけパソコン…
今回はもう少し複雑で細かいクラフトを作りたかった。それと、ペーパークラフトクリエーターの敵「白いスペース」を出来るだけなくしたかった。

このクラフトを作るにはちょっと手間かかる（特にパーツを切る事）。でも、自分で言うのも何だけど、完成したら満足できると思う。

Here is my second attempt at an original paper toy, entitled “Hair!”
I based this toy on my last one and made a few adjustments.
I added a cap and lengthened the legs. I feel that the overall balance is a lot better with this one, and I also think that simple pop designs work best with paper craft.

去年Readymechのペーパークラフトについてアップしたけど、かれらの新プロジェクトは興味深いのでまた紹介します。今回Readymechは写真サイトCorbisとコラボで、完全に使える紙のピンホール・カメラ（針穴写真機）を作った！色んなきれいなデザインがあって、全てが無料でダウンロード可能。組み立てるのは大変そうだけど、それにしても凄くよく出来ていると思う。

Though I have blogged about Readymech before, their new project is well worth a mention. Readymech in conjunction with photography site Corbis have created some beautiful and fully functional paper pinhole cameras. There are several different designs - all free and downloadable. They look a little complicated to construct but are still an amazing achievement.

今まではブログとウェブサイトの両方があったのだけど、最近ウェブサイトは必要ないって分かった。なので、サイトのフィーチャを全てこの新ブログに統合した。

As you will have hopefully noticed I have given Horrorwood a new look.
I had both a blog and a website for a while, but recently realised that the website was a bit redundant. As such I have integrated all of the features of the site into this new-look blog.

Please take a look at the links to the right, which will take you to galleries of my work amongst other things. Every time you visit another page, or refresh this one, you will be greeted by a different character at the top. There is a 1 in 5 chance of Dracula appearing, so you better have the garlic ready.

今年の初めにおもちゃを買わないようにすると約束したけど、このセットがEbayのオークションで現れた瞬間、その約束を早速破ってしまった…（恥）

言い訳をすると、これはジェームス・ジャービスの｢In-Crowd」シリーズの中の一番レアなセット。数年前に、携帯メーカーNOKIAのビジネス客への特別景品として作られたので、一般的に発売されてなかった。

このセットのテーマは「オフィスのステレオタイプ」で、普通の事務所で見る様な人間を描いている。ジェームスの他のキャラクターと比べたら、やっぱりわざと地味な感じにしているけど、相変わらず細かく出来てる。この味の薄さもある意味魅力だと思って、あえて平凡すぎるチェアのフィギュアというのは面白い。

My new year’s resolution was to stop buying toys, but when these popped on Ebay I had to break my rule.

In my defense this is the rarest release in James Jarvis‘ In-Crowd figure series. It was produced a few years back as a special gift for Nokia customers and was as such never on sale to the general public.

This set is called the “Office Archetypes” and depicts characters that you can find in a typical office.　Though a little blander than James’ usual creations, the attention to detail is as high as ever and I even have　a soft spot for the chair because of the fact that it is so daringly bland.

As promised here is my first paper toy in what will hopefully be a full series. I am pleased with the design when it is in it’s flat form, but think that the 3D form still needs a little work.

この間、Shin Tanakaの新ペーパークラフト・シリーズについてアップしてからというもの、全デザインを掘り出すということに完全にはまっちゃった…

最初に思ったよりもデザインがかなり多くて、今のところ37デザインを発見した（箱のデザインをいれたら38）！一番珍しい（めったに出て来なかった）ヤツはShinさん本人がデザインした分（上）。その上、色違いとか微妙に違うヤツもあったので、全部探すのは結構大変だった。Shinさんがこのプロジェクトにどれだけ力をいれたのか･･･ということに気付いて、アーティストとして凄く尊敬している。

今まで発見したデザインを暴露するのはちょっと悪いと思うけど、下に載せてしまった。
欲しかったら自分で楽しんで探して見てください。
新しいデザインが更に出て来たら、みなさん連絡お願いします…よろしく。

今ホラーウッドのペーパークラフトも制作中…

I went a bit overboard and got thoroughly addicted to discovering just how many paper toys Shin Tanaka had created for his new series.

It turns out that there were even more than I expected… I have currently discovered 37 designs (38 if you include the box design), and the rarest of the bunch seems to be a design by Shin himself (see top), that only appeared once in a blue moon. There are also different colourways of the same design and subtly different variants by the same artist, which made collecting the whole lot more tricky. It is amazing just how much effort was put into this project.

Though I don’t wish to be a spoilsport I have posted pics of all the designs that I have discovered so far. If you want them for yourself please enjoy the experience of clicking and collecting. If anyone finds anymore please let me know.

前にもブログで紹介したShin Tanakaがまた新しいペーパー・クラフト・シリーズ「Spiky Baby　Deluxe」をリリースした。今回は色んな有名な人気アーティストが参加している。

全てのデザインは前と同じく無料でダウンロードできる上に、クリックすればランダムに出ってくるからメチャ楽しい。全部で何個あるかまだ確認出来ていない。なぜかというと、これで最後かな～と思っても違うヤツが現れる！

一番好きなデザインの2つは、前紹介したアーティスト/フィギュアデザイナーT9GとTOUMAがデザインしたもの。ところで、この2つのデザインは何回クリックしてもなかなか出て来なかったので、あきらめずに頑張ってね！

他にもカスタマイズできるペーパークラフトもあるので、何時間でも楽しめると思う。

A while back I wrote about Shin Tanaka and his wonderful paper toys.
Shin has just released a news series called “Spiky Baby Deluxe“,with designs by a multitude of popular artists.

The best thing about these paper toys is that not only are they free to download, but the whole experience is made more enjoyable by the fact that you don’t know which paper toy you will get until you click on the link. I am still not sure how many of these toys there are in total, but every time I thought I had found the last one, a new one would appear.

2 of my favourite designs are by the artists/toy creators T9G and Touma, who I have previously mentioned on my blog. Their designs can be seen below. Incidentally, these 2 designs seemed to appear the least, so don’t give up when you’re clicking.

Shin also has a number of customizable paper toy templates available for download on request, which allows for even more hours of fun.
