Last weekend our show “Far Away So Close” came to an end.
I wasn’t able to participate as fully as I would have liked to, but according to reports we had a lot of positive feedback.
Hopefully our group will continue to exhibit in various forms from now on.

今回は残念ながら本格的に参加することを出来なかったけど、お客さんからの評価は良かったそうです。
今後もこのグループで色んなかたちで活動できたらいいと思います。

Apologies for the lack of activity recently.
We returned to England for a month and since then work and family business has kept me very busy.
On top of that my computer died taking some of my artwork along with it…
Anyway, here at last is the finished colour version of “Tatargami” that I introduced a few months ago.
I am currently exhibiting this piece and a few others here in Takamatsu as part of a group art show entitled “Far Away So Close”. It features the work of foreign artists living in my area as well some of our Japanese friends. Many diciplines are represented and I think it makes for a very interesting show.
The exhibition is being held at Salon De Rubis from October 24th until November 27th.

長らくごぶさたしていました。。
夏に一ヶ月ほどイギリスに帰っていたのと、その後もずっと仕事やプライベートな事で忙しかったうえに
パソコンが完全に壊れてしまって、作品データの一部も消えてしまった。
今回この前紹介した「祟り神」の完成品をやっとアップします。
現在高松市内でグループ展示会に参加していて、この作品も出しています。
今回の展示会は香川県に住んでいる外国人と知り合いの日本人アーティストによるもので、タイトルは「Far Away So Close」。色んな分野の作品が展示されているので凄く面白いショーになると思う。
ルビー商会の「Salon De Rubis」で１０月２４日～１１月２７日まで開催されています。もし機会があれば是非寄ってください。詳細は以下のポストカードに。

This is very late but here are another 2 of my paper toy customs that are now available for download.
Firstly we have a special Calling All Cars toy that I did in collaboration with ToysREvil.
Some of you may remember that I first created this toy for sale at the Singapore Toy, Games & Comic Convention 2009.
In celebration of 5 years of the ToysREvil blog I remixed the design as a special birthday version that can now be downloaded for free.

Secondly we have one of my most eleborate custom pieces to date, which I did for Marko Zubak’s wonderful ye-boT initiative. He is called “The Guardian”.
Marko displayed his work along with customs from many international artists at a special exhibition in Croatia. It was all very professionally done and Marko even produced a very nice catalogue for the show.

大変遅くなりましたが、僕がカスタムしたペーパークラフトを2個紹介します。
最初はおもちゃニュースブログ「ToysREvil」のために作った特別な「Calling All Cars」カスタム。
見覚えある方もいるかもしれませんが、このキャラクターは去年シンガポールのおもちゃ展覧会「STGCC」の限定商品としてリリースした。
今回は「ToysREvil」の5年記念のために誕生日バージョンとして作り直した。

次は多分今まで僕の一番細かいカスタムになる。Marko Zubakの「ye-boT」プロジェクトのためにデザインした「The Guardian」。
Markoは世界の色んなアーティストからデザインを募集して、母国のクロアチアで特別な展示会を開催した。
写真で拝見しただけですが、凄くハイレベルなイベントだった。Markoは素敵な展覧会カタログまで作ってくれた。

I was recently invited to take part in a group exhibition called “A World of Artists in Kagawa”.
The exhibition was designed to showcase the work of foreign residents of my prefecture (Kagawa, Japan).
There will be a wide range of work on display and I think it is a very interesting concept for a show.
The show will run from March 16th-27th in the ground floor plaza of I-PAL international centre in Takamatsu.

My group art show “The Art of Gravity” came to a close last week.
Though we were not overwhelmed with visitors, there was a pretty good turn out.
As always everyone managed to muddle together an interesting display with a wide variety of works on offer.
As mentioned before I decided to try an all papercraft exhibition for the first time.
Though displaying paper is a little trickier than illustrations, I think I was successful and it was great to see all of the stuff I had been hording in boxes finally seeing the light of day.
Having so many different people’s work as part of my display certainly made an impact and I’d like to say thanks again to all of you who have contributed designs to the Calling All Cars series or who have done collabo work with me so far.

僕が参加しているグループ展示会「The Art of Gravity」が先週終了しました。
びっくりするくらい沢山の人が来てくれたわけではないけど、良い経験になりました。
相変わらず、幅広いジャンルの作品の集まりなのに不思議と良いディスプレイが出来た。
以前書いた、今回僕は初めてペーパークラフトばかりを展示することにした。
ペーパークラフトは確かにイラストよりディスプレイしにくいけど、結果的には成功したと思う。
ずっとダンボール箱に眠っていた作品がやっと日の目を見た。
「Calling All Cars」のシリーズや他のコラボ・プロジェクトのおかげで、僕の物だけではなくて、色んなアーティストの作品も展示することが出来た。
コラボして頂いたアーティスト達に再び感謝します。

Following hot on the heels of the Urban Paper show in the Netherlands, the next exhibition will be held here in Japan from September 7th-20th.
Josh McKible (Nanibird) kindly organized the event, which will be held at Cafe Pause in Tokyo run by Tokyo-based writer Jean Snow.
At present there are 13 artists confirmed for the show including Josh and myself.
In celebration of the opening of the show Josh also created a very lovely little paper toy mascot (above) which can be downloaded here.
I will also be revealing my Jumbo Go Bananas craft for the first time (below) in Tokyo.
This special toy will only be available at my exhibitions and possibly in limited quantities on my website at a later date.
「Urban Paper」発売記念の展示会はまだまだ続く。アメリカ、オランダに引き続き、今回は東京！
「Nanibird」のJosh McKibleがまとめ役になってくれた。ライターのJean Snowが経営している池袋のCafe Pauseで、9月7日～20日に開催。
今のところ、僕とJoshを含めて13人のペーパーアーティストの作品が展示されます。
Joshは展示会のために特別にとても可愛いペーパークラフトのマスコット（上参照）を作ってくれた。ここをクリックしたらダウンロード出来ます。
今回僕は「Go Bananas」の巨大バージョン（下参照）を初めてお披露目する。
このクラフトは展示会でしか手に入らないけど、人気があったら後日ネットでも提供するかもしれない。

From September 19th-27th we will be holding the 4th instalment of the Art of Gravity group art show.
This time we are back up to 8 members and as always span a wide range of genres.
There will be papercraft, illustration, t-shirts, photography, jewellery, accessories, bags, sculpture and more.
I will be mainly exhibiting my papercraft this time, as I have so many models now and hope that it will make for an interesting display.
If anyone happens to be in Takamatsu, Japan at this time please come along.

今回は第2弾と同じ8人のメンバーが参加します。

I have been receiving a steady stream of customs for my Calling All Cars project.
Here are the next 2 great designs and I will be introducing more as soon as I have time to build them.
First up is this fearsome hot rod by Matthijs Kamstra aka [mck].
Matthijs went all out with a whole extra sheet of custom parts. This one took some building!
Second is a rather smart Mexican Day of the Dead low-rider by Jonathan Greenwell aka Jonny Chiba.
I think the low-rider idea really suits the original form of the car.
Both of these artists have craft featured in the Urban Paper book.
Speaking of which, Matt Hawkins just sent me a flyer for the Urban Paper book launch party and papertoy art show. The show will be held at the Mobius Gallery in L.A. on Saturday May 2nd from 7pm. Anyone in the area please go and check out what promises to be a really fun show. I would love to be there, but it is not to be.
Also on the paper tip, I have just mildly renovated the Horrorwood Hills site to hopefully make it more accessible. All my new craft will be available from the site from now on.
Lastly I have recently started Twittering, so most days you will be able to find out what thoroughly exciting stuff I am up to in the Twitter box to the right.
More customs to follow soon, and I will also be releasing the first wave for download as soon as I can get around to making all the models.
「Calling All Cars」プロジェクトの嬉しいニュース！
色々なアーティストからデザインが送られてきています。
第3と4番目のアーティストをご紹介します。
第3の参加アーティストはMatthijs Kamstra（別名[mck]）。
彼は恐るべしホットロッドのデザインで、カスタムパーツがすごいためＡ４で２枚（通常1枚）。
組み立てるのにかなり時間がかかった！
第4参加者はJonathan Greenwell（別名Jonny Chiba）。
デザインはメキシコの死者の日をテーマしている格好いいロー・ライダー。
ロー・ライダーがもとの車の形によく合うと思った。
以上のアーティストのデザインは今月末に発売される「Urban Paper」の本に載っています。
「Urban Paper」と言えば、この間編集者のMatt Hawkinsから出版記念パーティーについての連絡を頂いた。
パーティーとギャラリーショーは5月2日（土）の7時から、ロサンゼルスのMobius Galleryで開催される。
その周辺に行くことがあれば是非見に行ってください。
きっと楽しい展示会になると思う。残念ながら僕はL.A.までは行けないけど…
そろそろ「Calling All Cars」のクラフト第1弾（５デザイン）を無料ダウンロードできるようします。
そのために、Horrorwood Hillsのクラフト専用サイトをもっと分かりやすく先週リニューアルしました。
それと、最近「Twitter」（トゥイッター、訳：つぶやき）を始めた（説明はこちら）。
ブログの右側を見たら今僕はどんなに面白いこと（皮肉）をしていると言うのが一目瞭然･･･。
最近忙しくて時間があまりないけど、クラフトを組み立て次第アップします。

The Art of Gravity group exhibition finished last Sunday.
We had a pretty good week with roughly the same amount of visitors as last time.
As an artist it is always interesting to see what kind of things catch people’s attention.
This time I had more detailed and perhaps more horror themed pieces on display, but as always it was the “cuter”, simpler characters (like my “Meat Bear“) that seemed to be more popular. Hardly a surprise I suppose, and the reason why I always try to produce a range of work as I know that skulls are not to everyone’s liking. It was also the first time that I had displayed my papercraft, which gave people something a little different to look at.
I am currently playing with some ideas for different kinds of exhibitions, but if possible I would like to keep the Gravity project going and have at least one group show a year.
Thanks to all the members and also to our visitors of course.
「The Art of Gravity展 第３弾」が先週の日曜日に無事終わりました。
客数は第２弾と同じ位で、かなりいい展示会になったと思う。
アーティストとして、お客さんがどんな展示物に興味を示すか、というのはいつも面白い。
今回、僕の作品は前回より細かい（こっている？）、ホラー・テイストのものが多かったと思う。
でも、やっぱりシンプルで可愛いキャラクター（「Meat Bear」など）の方が人気を集めた。
皆が皆スカルが好きってわけではないので、いつも出来るだけ色んなキャラクターを描くようにしている。
今回初めてペーパークラフトも展示して、一味違うものがあってよかったと思う。
今後、色んなプロジェクトを考えているけど、グループ展示会のコンセプトが好きなので、
できれば少なくとも年一回くらいGravity展を開きたいと思っている。
Gravityメンバーの皆さんお疲れ様でした。

「The Art of Gravity」展、第三弾を一年ぶりに開催します！
10月13日～19日に開催する予定で、メンバーは前回と殆ど一緒（メンバーの人数だけが変わって、今回は7人になる）。
フライヤーとポスターのデザインが出来たのでここで紹介します。アーティストの詳しいプロフィールなどはホームページへ。
展示会のジャンルがあいかわらず幅広くて、絵、写真、彫刻、シルバー、かばん、等等。
僕はイラストやＴシャツ、小物などを展示する予定です。
10月に高松にいらしゃったら、是非来て見てください。
After a year’s hiatus The Art of Gravity group show will return this October from the 13th to the 19th.
Most of the details are the same as before, except for the number of artists participating (this time 7).
The flyers and the posters are done and are presented here and more details can be found on the homepage.
There will be painting, photography, sculpture, silver work, bags and a lot more.
I myself will be displaying illustrations along with some t-shirts and other products.

The Art of Gravity Part IIは日曜日の夜に無事に終了しました。
おかげさまでかなりの来場数になり大成功でした。
メンバーの皆にとっても最高に楽しい一週間になりました。
地元のテレビにも紹介され、ラジオの生ライブもありました！緊張しました･･･（笑）
そのため、これからもGravityプロジェクトが拡大して、どんどんと進化すると思います。
来てくださった皆様、本当にありがとうございました。
そして、メンバーの皆さん、頑張ってくれてありがとうございます。おつかれさまでした。

The Art of Gravity Part II came to a close on Sunday.
All in all it proved to be a very successful week, both in terms of visitor numbers and sales.
We were also featured on local TV and interviewed live on the radio!
A great time was had by all, thus securing the continuation and expansion of the Gravity project.
Many thanks to everyone who took the time to come down and see the show, and of course to all the members for their hard work.
