Fonotune Kickstarter

Fabian Huebner wrote to me the other day to inform me that he had started a Kickstarter project to help fund the rest of his film Fonotune. He told me that he was doing this in order to retain artistic freedom and control over the project. The bulk of the film is complete but more money is needed to add some important desert scenes and to finish the principal shooting.

There are some great rewards on offer such as soundtracks, comics, posters, art books etc. with pledges starting at $5. I have finally finished my set of paper toys and these are also available as part of one of the reward packs.

Please had over to the Kickstarter page and help fund this amazing film.
There is also a Facebook page dedicated to the project.

Jet Plastic and Fonotune

Last year I was invited by German designer Fabian Huebner of Fint design to provide work for 2 very exciting projects. The first was to create a cover illustration and some logos for a new comic anthology that he is working on called Jet Plastic.
I have included my logo and a preview of the illustration here, but please head over to the site for more details on the project as well as a look at the other fantastic artists involved.

The second project was to provide some paper toys to promote Fabian’s feature film Fonotune.
Though it is taking me a long time, eventually there will be a toy for each of the 3 main characters in the film.
Last month an exhibition event was held in Berlin to promote the film called Fntnism and samples of my first toy were handed out to visitors. Fabian kindly sent me a pack of goodies from the event and again you can get a sneak peek of my work in the image below.

Calling All Cars: Marsimoto

For the first time in a long while here is a Calling All Cars custom – in fact the 45th artist custom so far.
I actually received this some time last year, so can’t even begin to apologise for how late I am in posting it.
This great design comes from young German artist Elias Heinel.
It is a homage to German rapper Marsimoto and comes complete with a mini boombox and street diorama.
Head over to Horrorwood Hills to grab the free download.

Shove It! Kickstarter

A Kickstarter program has now been started by Baykiddead to help cover the costs of putting on the Shove It! exhibition that I introduced in my last post.
However they are not simply asking for donations – with Kickstarter rewards are offered depending on how much you contribute. For example if you pledge $75 then you can receive one of the decks from the exhibition. This time the pledge range is from between $5 and $10000. The project must reach its target of $6250 by April 3rd or all pledges will be lost.

Below is an updated selection of decks designs that have been submitted so far and also a widget displaying the current status of the campaign.
Every little helps so please contribute if you can. It’s a chance to help a great project and get hold of some amazing artwork.

Shove It!

A little while back paper pal Baykiddead invited me to take part in a very exciting project.
He told me that he was gathering artists for a group exhibition entitled Shove It! to raise money to build America’s largest free outdoor skatepark in downtown Des Moines (Iowa).
My job was to design a skateboard deck and accompanying paper toy.

The deck proved to be a big challenge as it a unique size and shape to work with and it took me a lot longer than I expected. Thankfully I just managed to finish my pieces before the deadline.
Baykiddead just revealed a preview of the first 5 designs, which can be seen above.
My design is titled “False Idol” and is my usual occult demon face affair.

Shove It! will take place from June 7th at the Polk County Heritage Gallery in Des Moines.
All the details including the artist line-up etc. can be found by clicking here.
There is also a Shove It! Facebook page.

I am extremely grateful for this amazing opportunity and hope that my contribution will go some way to helping realize this very worthwhile project.

Shove It!

Obscure x Horrorwood Paper Toys

These have been a long time in the pipeline, but I am proud to announce the release of my latest series of paper toys.
A while back I was commissioned by Glen Caskie of Obscure Clothing in the UK to produce some promotional toys for him. Obscure’s designs mainly focus on metal and horror themes and so I came up with this set of obscure-looking monsters.
I decided to go all out with these and can safely say that they are my most detailed pieces to date.
Many thanks to Glen for giving me this opportunity and I am so glad we can now share these designs with everyone.
The toys are available to purchase (as a download) direct from Obscure’s webshop.
99p each or £3 for the whole set – bargain!

Far Away Photos

Last weekend our show “Far Away So Close” came to an end.
I wasn’t able to participate as fully as I would have liked to, but according to reports we had a lot of positive feedback.
Hopefully our group will continue to exhibit in various forms from now on.
Here are a few pictures to give you a taste of the show.

Far Away So Close

Apologies for the lack of activity recently.
We returned to England for a month and since then work and family business has kept me very busy.
On top of that my computer died taking some of my artwork along with it…

Anyway, here at last is the finished colour version of “Tatargami” that I introduced a few months ago.
I am currently exhibiting this piece and a few others here in Takamatsu as part of a group art show entitled “Far Away So Close”. It features the work of foreign artists living in my area as well some of our Japanese friends. Many diciplines are represented and I think it makes for a very interesting show.

The exhibition is being held at Salon De Rubis from October 24th until November 27th.
If you happen to be in the area please pop in. Details can be found on the postcards below.

Profondo Rosso

Here is a custom I did a few months ago of VinsArt’s Ape-Paper.
My design is called “Profondo Rosso” (a nod to the horror theme and the fact that Vins is Italian).
I used Photoshop for this one, as a more realistic approach seemed to fit the model better.
For more photos and to download the template please click here.
