Jack Hankins was born and bred in the west of England. After studying and working in Japan for a number of years he finally decided to settle down in Takamatsu for the long term.
Apart from his art, Jack is an avid collector of Japanese and Western toys and figures, and also a film and music enthusiast.
Horrorwood was a brand created by the artist a number of years ago as a focus for art and design projects.
Influences include graphic design, comic art, toy art, science fiction, wildlife, British traditions and of course horror. The British artists Pete Fowler and James Jarvis rank amongst Jack’s largest influences.
The Horrorwood project has recently expanded from artwork into the territory of simple product design.

ジャック・ハンキンズは 英国コッツウォルズ地方ののどかな小さな村で生まれる。高校時代に日本人留学生と知り合ったことをきっかけに、日本に興味を持ち始める。以来大学で日本語を専攻、卒業後は神戸・ロンドンでの職を経て2006年に高松に定住を決める。
趣味はフィギュアを集めること。休日は映画を観たり音楽を楽しんでいる。
Horrorwoodブランドは長年に渡って生み出されたアイディアをテーマ化するために、数年前に発足。イギリス人アーティストPete Fowler、James Jarvisらに感化され、フィギュアデザイン、グラッフィクデザイン、コミックアートに影響を受ける。SF、自然、英国文化、そしてホラーをメインモチーフとしている。
現在はグラフィックデザインのみならず、デザインをプロダクトとして発展させている。
